Rishay Ackley
M.Coun., LPC (Telehealth Only)

Licensed Professional Counselor

Rishay Ackley has been working with children, adolescents, and families since 2004. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Education with a minor in Psychology from Idaho State University in 2002. Knowing early on that counseling was her calling, she continued her education at Idaho State University and obtained her Master’s degree in Counseling.

Rishay approaches therapy from an Existential and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, helping clients explore meaning, personal responsibility, and thought patterns that influence emotions and behavior. When working with children, she incorporates Play Therapy techniques to support developmentally appropriate expression and healing. She is strength-based in her work, believing that each person already possesses valuable internal resources that can be nurtured and developed through the therapeutic process.

With 16 years of experience working in school settings and 8 years in community agencies, Rishay has extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults. She has facilitated groups in both school and community settings and enjoys the collaborative growth that group work can foster.

Rishay has worked with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, anger, emotional regulation, ADHD, social skills development, coping skills, relationship challenges, family transitions, grief and loss (including loss due to incarceration), sexual abuse, trauma, mindfulness, and career exploration. She is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges while building resilience and confidence.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho, Rishay has also enjoyed living in Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Maryland, experiences that have broadened her perspective and appreciation for diverse backgrounds and life stories.

Outside of her professional life, Rishay enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. As a family, they love attending football games, camping, skiing, and swimming. Personally, she enjoys running and preserving family memories through working with family photos.
